This year, in celebration of International Paramedics Day, Prehospital Care and Aid Worldwide (PHCAW) and Emergency Medical Response Volunteers is proud to honor the dedication, courage, and impact of paramedics and prehospital care providers around the world. As part of our celebrations, we are conducting a series of impactful training initiatives aimed at empowering both medical professionals and community first responders:

• #StopTheBleed Training: We are rolling out nationwide training sessions under the global #StopTheBleed campaign to equip communities with lifesaving bleeding control techniques. These hands-on sessions will focus on tourniquet use, wound packing, and improvised bleeding control measures.
• International Medical Responders Course: We are launching the International Medical Responders Course tailored for healthcare personnel and volunteer first responders. This comprehensive course includes trauma care, CPR, mass casualty incident management, and emergency scene safety, aligning with global standards of prehospital care. These efforts are not just about training—they are about building resilience, saving lives, and strengthening our emergency response capacity in resource-limited settings. We remain committed to our mission of ensuring access to quality emergency medical care for all, especially the underserved and vulnerable.

We are looking forward to celebrating the day this year, and as a company we will be doing various short stories on the theme of unity and community in the style of 'the day in a life of a Paramedic'. These short stories and images will be posted on our social platforms and will look at various roles a Paramedic can be in, and the impact they have on teamwork and community. Our main content and promotion will be on our Facebook page, but we will also post on other social platforms (Tiktok and Instagram) and our main site www.ambulancecpd.com.
We look forward to celebrating the day.

As part of a clinical fellowship, within my role, I devised screening tools. These work within patients medical notes, to opportunistically highlight patients with an irregular pulse. This then advises the clinician on the next course of action to effectively diagnose and manage atrial fibrillation. The success of this project then led on to a similar tool, for more complex area of hypertension.

Calonyx Nigeria Limited is excited to announce its plans for International Paramedics Day, marked by the launch of a comprehensive CPR Awareness Town Tour. This initiative is designed not only to honor the crucial role of paramedics but also to significantly raise public awareness about the importance of CPR and basic first aid techniques. The campaign involves a series of outreach events that will travel to select towns across several regions.

Each stop on the tour will feature live demonstrations that showcase CPR techniques and basic first aid skills, allowing participants to learn in an engaging and hands-on environment. Furthermore, attendees will receive practical materials, such as simple first-aid kits and informational brochures, to empower them to respond effectively in emergencies. By strategically engaging with communities in accessible venues such as markets, schools, and public spaces, this initiative aims to equip everyday Nigerians with the knowledge and confidence to save lives when it matters most. Through this direct interaction, we wish to demystify emergency response procedures and encourage proactive involvement in health and safety. Ultimately, this campaign is more than just a celebration; it represents a commitment to service and community empowerment. By fostering a culture of preparedness and resilience, we hope to honor the dedication of paramedics while making a tangible difference in the lives of the people we reach.
